I’m a journeyer. I’ve traveled all over the world in various modes and for various reasons since I was 19. (I guess if you include trips in the station wagon across the country to my grandmothers’ homes in Gurney, Illinois and Santa Monica, California, then that makes me a traveler from my first days.) I’ve taken buses, planes, cars, trains, ferries and ships throughout Europe and the US. I’ve hitchhiked and driven a Lambretta motor scooter across the United Kingdom. I’ve zipped through the Japanese countryside on a Shinkansen, one of the fastest bullet trains in the world. I’ve walked and biked many miles in every locale that I’ve visited. This blog is merely an attempt to capture some of those wanderings and my thoughts along the way. I wish I had started years ago, but there’s no going back – only forward. As Susan Sontag once said, “I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list.
